Benenden Cricket Club

Benenden Cricket Club

The club still plays on the traditional village green in front of the St. George’s parish church and next to the Bull Inn. A perfect setting for village cricket and one of only two Kent entries in the Rothman’s Book of Village Cricket (1993).

Historically, Benenden can lay claim to, at least, 11 first-class cricketers christened within the parish.

The club plays friendlies only and currently, fields one side playing mostly Saturdays, but with the occasional Sunday fixture.

Benenden Pre-School

Benenden Pre-School

Benenden Pre-School

Pre-school is delighted that it has been awarded funding from the Benenden Bonfire Society. The generous donation is paying for the purchase of a tricycle and a scooter from Community Playthings, an organisation based near Robertsbridge, which makes high quality toys and furniture for children. Like us, they are driven by the importance of childhood. All the resources they produce are aesthetic as well as robust, designed with quality and integrity and all come with a 15-year guarantee!

Outdoor play is essential every day and active play is vital for all young children. We make full use of our garden throughout the year, offering good quality, open-ended equipment for the children to play with outside.

Scooters and tricycles promote physical movement, which is challenging and exciting, giving children the opportunity to practice important skills such as learning to balance and negotiating space. As these items prove popular, they also offer a chance to develop skills such as sharing and turn-taking.

Thank you Benenden Bonfire Society for supporting your village pre-school!
